Yoga Teacher

“The practice of yoga connects us to our center, to our higher self. Even in the chaos of everyday life, we can always find in yoga an invitation to create roots, to tune in and find peace of mind. Is a gift that we give to ourselves.”

An avid practitioner, scholar and admirer of the philosophy of Yoga, she seeks to share her knowledge and help others find balance and well-being in their lives. Laura teaches classes as a path to self-knowledge and spiritual development. She follows and values the tradition of yoga, and at the same time, seeks to reconcile the practice within the current sociocultural context. Her mission is to help people connect with themselves and the nature around them.

She fallows a practice that adapts to the needs of her students, seeking to offer them the opportunity to respect and explore their limitations and emotions. Her classes, always guided by attention to breathing, alternate between moments of fluidity and long stays in asanas. The verbal commands are clear and accessible. The result is a class that values conscious practices and respects each person's limits. Laura was born in Bolivia, but lived most of her life in Brazil. She grew up with artistic talents and began studying fashion design, but this life of glamour and appearances was not what she was looking for. Soon after, she studied gastronomy and worked as a chef for 7 years, 2 of which were in Ireland, but once again the crazy life in the kitchen made her rethink what she wanted for her life. She is also a tour guide and has visited more than 20 countries. Now she dedicates herself exclusively to yoga and meditation.

•Ancient practice, philosophy and postural/modern Yoga:

Yoga is an ancient practice that originated in India. What we practice today in studios around the world are different types of Hatha Yoga, or “postural yoga”, with influences from different schools of thought, lineages and philosophies that accompany them. I believe that as a teacher it is essential to respect and follow traditions, and at the same time teach asanas (postures), pranayama and meditation within the sociocultural context in which we find ourselves, without dogmatism and without distortions. Knowing that postures are just a tool for something greater.

The process of learning Yoga demands dedication, patience and perseverance. Each student has their own characteristics and needs. A lot of discernment is necessary so that as practitioners, we can evolve on this spiritual path and reach a state of yoga (union).
